500 g pitted dates
250 g butter or organic coconut oil for a dairy free option
¼ c raw honey
1 egg, free range & organic
200 g pecan nuts, chopped
¼ c cocoa powder
¼ c raisins or cranberries (optional)
1 - 2t cinnamon
organic desiccated coconut


Heat the dates and butter in a saucepan on medium-high heat on the stove until the butter has melted and the dates get a bit softer. Remove from heat. Whisk the honey and egg and add to the date and butter mixture. Mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Set aside to cool for 20 min. Using a melon baller scoop mixture in your hands and roll into balls. Roll in desiccated coconut. Store in refrigerator.

Verhit die dadels en botter op die stoof oor medium-hoë hitte, todat die botter gesmelt het en die dadel bietjie sagter is.  Verwyder van hitte.  Klits die eier en heuning saam en voeg by die warm dadelmengsel en meng goed deur.  Voeg die res van die bestandele by en meng goed. Laat die mengsel afkoel vir ongeveer 20 min.  Gebruik 'n balletjiesnyer en skep die mengsel in jou hande uit en roll in balletjies.  Rol in dieklapper. Bere in die yskas.
